GSU Beat by Bobcats in MEC Matchup

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Volleyball team lost a four-set match against conference foe West Virginia Wesleyan at home tonight, 3-1.

Wesleyan started off hot, taking the win in the first set 25-12. In the second set, the Pioneers showed some fight, keeping it close until the end, giving WVWC the victory in the second stanza. In the third set, it was a win or go home set for the Pioneers, but in a back and forth set the Pioneers managed to stay alive and force set four. The Pioneers managed to keep it close until midway through the fourth set when Wesleyan took off, giving them the set win, 25-16, and the match win, 3-1.

Brooke Axe led the team in kills with 14 but right behind her was Alauna Wilson 13 and Emily Denison with 12. Jalynn West racked up 46 assists for the Bobcats tonight. Alexis Moeschler led the team with 19 digs. Brooke Axe's six blocks, Jayla Cowherd's five blocks, and Emily Denison's four blocks all helped contribute to the win tonight.

Glenville State
Malerie Ross led the team in kills with 11 while Keleigh Chrisman added 10. With Sadie Hill's best effort, she racked up 30 assists tonight for the Pioneers. Morgan Stephenson managed to get 15 digs, leading the team. Greta Petofi spearheaded the defensive end with four blocks in the loss.

Up Next For The Pioneers
The Pioneers travel to West Virginia State for another conference matchup on Tuesday (Oct. 8), with first set slated for 7 p.m. at the Walker Convocation Center.
