GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Women's Soccer team got a conference win and scored a season-high three goals in their 3-0 shutout victory over West Liberty. The Pioneers record now stands at (4-4-2, 2-4-2 MEC).
1st Half
The first half was lop sided with the Pioneers controlling the possessions and scoring two goals courtesy of Martinia Roig and
Aitana Viejo. On the defensive end, the Pioneers held West Liberty to three first half shots and no shot on goal. The Pioneers put pressure on West Liberty's goalie Cianna Butera, forcing her to get eight saves and face eleven shots.
2nd Half
In the second half, Glenville came out looking to increase their 2-0 lead and were successful in doing so, thanks to a goal from
Sophia Calkins. Glenville outshot West Liberty again in the second half by two, leading the way to the 3-0 win.
Final Stats
West Liberty
Mia Zecca and Maya Taggart led West Liberty in shots with two apiece. Rylyn Bielinski and Mia Zecca had the Hilltoppers only two shots on goal. Cianna Butera picked up eleven saves in the loss.
Glenville State
Martinia Roig, Aitana Veijo and
Sophia Calkins all contributed to tonight's win with one goal each.
Merel Smets had Glenville's solo assist of the game. Aitana Veijo led the Pioneers in shots with four and shots on goal with four.
Lucia Lopez faced little pressure but managed to get two saves for the Pioneers.
