Preview: Men's Basketball Travels to Point Park, Welcomes PSU Fayette

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Men's Basketball starts off their second week of action by traveling to Point Park (1-1) on Thursday (Nov.14) and hosting Penn State Fayette (0-1) on Saturday (Nov.16).

THE OPPENENTS
POINT PARK
2024-25 Season
The Pioneers finished the 2023-24 campaign (31-3), falling in the second round of the NAIA national championship to Freed-Hardeman. The Pioneers started off their 2024-25 season (1-1) after splitting their games at the Ron Wilson Classic.

Head Coach
Kevin Reynolds is in his third season as Head Coach of the Point Park Pioneers Men's Basketball program. In his 11 years of coaching, Reynolds has a career record of 211-116 for a winning percentage of .645.

Quick Look at The Pioneers
The Pioneers were picked 7th in the Preseason Men's Basketball Poll for the Mountain East Conference. Point Park lost their top three scorers from last season but returning they have Nathaniel Van, who averaged 10 PPG and 5 RPG last season, Nazareth Fisher, who averaged 6 PPG and 8 RPG as well as Jags Jahwar(6 PPG and 6 RPG). Kaden Mills looks to be a promising player for the Pioneers this season, averaging 29.5 PPG through the first two games of the season. On the boards, the Pioneers are led by Nazareth Fisher, who is averaging 8 RPG.

PENN STATE FAYETTE
2024-25 Season
The Nittany Lions finished the 2023-24 campaign (11-16, 7-12 PSUAC), missing the PSUAC conference tournament. The Nittany Lions started off their 2024-25 season (0-1) after losing to Penn Highland, 83-73, on Tuesday's season opener.

Head Coach
Trey Austin serves as the Head Coach of the Penn State Fayette Men's Basketball Program. He previously was the assistant coach of Frostburg State's Men's Basketball program. Coach Austin also coaches the West Virginia Gold in the Puma Pro circuit.

Quick Look at The Nittany Lions
The Nittany Lions, in their first game against Penn Highlands, had two 20-point plus scorers in Jesse Lawson Jr., who had 23 points and Dasilas Jones, who scored 22 points. Lawson Jr. also led the team in rebounds with 12 and assists with five. Jones led the team in takeaways with an impressive five steals. Zachary Hill and Brandon Dennison both led the team with two blocks apiece.

THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2024-25 Season
The Pioneers kicked off their season (1-1) after splitting their first two games at the UC Classic over the weekend. The Pioneers look to record their first conference win of the season as they face Point Park on Thursday.

Quick Look at The Pioneers
The Pioneers are led in scoring by freshman Elijah Redfern, who is averaging 14 PPG while shooting 60% from three. Behind him in scoring is Grayson College transfer Sameir Kinsler, as the guard is averaging 12.5 PPG. On the boards, the Pioneers are led by big man Prince Mosengo, who through two games is averaging 10.5 RPG. Redfern also leads the team in assists with 3.5 APG. On defense, the Pioneers are led by Redfern's 1.5 while Kinsler is also averaging 1.5 SPG. New Hampshire transfer Paul Gakmar is averaging 1.5 BPG down low. Freshman Ammar Maxwell has been a standout for the Pioneers so far this season, averaging 8.5 PPG, 6 RPG and 2.5 APG through the first two games.
