Preview: Pioneers Matched Up with Charleston on Tuesday, Seton Hill on Saturday

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Men's Basketball tips off a brand new week tomorrow (Nov. 26). hosting the University of Charleston (3-2, 1-0 MEC) before traveling to Seton Hill (5-2, 0-2 PSAC) on Saturday.

THE OPPENENTS
CHARLESTON
2024-25 Season
The University of Charleston started their season (3-2, 1-0 MEC) after winning a two-overtime thriller, 119-112, over Concord on Saturday.

Head Coach
James Long is in his first season as Head Coach for the University of Charleston's Men's Basketball team. Last season, Long was the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Davidson Day School, where he went 24-7 and won the State Championship in NCISAA 2A Division. Before coaching Davidsons Day School, Long spent three years at WVU Tech as the Head Men's Basketball Coach, where he went (62-21) with a 75%-win percentage.

Quick Look at The Golden Eagles
The Golden Eagles were picked 3rd in the Mountain East Conference preseason poll. This season, the Golden Eagles are led by CJ Meridith, who is averaging 20 points per game on 58% from the field, 56% from three-point range and 90% from the free throw line. Behind him in scoring is Dwaine Jones, who is averaging 16.0 PPG. On the boards, the Golden Eagles are led by Obinna Ugwuakazi and Zach Loveday as they both average six rebounds per game. Jones also leads the team in assists with eight assists per game. Ugwuakazi leads the team in steals with 1.2 SPG and Meredith is averaging a team high of 1.4 blocks per game.

SETON HILL
2024-25 Season
The Griffins are (5-2, 0-2 PSAC) after losing to Shippensburg, 83-77, on Saturday. The Griffins have an opportunity to add to their win column on Tuesday against the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg before hosting the Pioneers on Saturday.

Head Coach
Ben Wilkins is in his third season as the Head Coach of the Seton Hill Men's Basketball team. In Wilkins' first two seasons, the team had back-to-back 16-win seasons. Last year, the Griffins had the PSAC West Rookie of the Year and one All-PSAC West performer.

Quick Look at The Griffins
The Griffins are led this year in scoring by Kedrick Curtis, who is averaging 13.6 PPG and Ryan Meis (13.0 PPG). Curtis also leads the team in with 6.7 RPG. Dimitrios Sklavenitis is leading the Griffins in assists and steals with 3.7 assists per game and 2.7 steals per game. Edir Ortiz is averaging a team high in blocks with two per game.

THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2024-25 Season
The Pioneers record now stands at (3-2, 1-1 MEC) after beating Pen State Fayette and losing a close matchup to West Virginia State in their second conference matchup of the year.

This week, Glenville's leading scorer, Devin Collins, increased his scoring average to 19.3 points per game with a 24-point performance at WVSU. Behind him in scoring is guard Samier Kinsler (12.0 PPG) and big man Prince Mosengo (11.6 PPG). Mosengo is second in the league in rebounds per game with 9.8 RPG while leading the team in blocks with 1.2 blocks per game. Freshman Ammar Maxwell and Guard Dominiq Penn lead the team in assists with three per game. Freshman guard Elijah Redfern and Kinsler lead the team in steals with one steal per game.
