GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team lost a conference matchup against Charleston, 74-62, earlier tonight inside the Waco Center. The Golden Eagles hit 15 threes and shot 47% from behind the arc while holding GSU to a 23% clip from deep. The Pioneers record now stands at (3-3, 1-2 MEC).
In the first half, the Pioneers went back and forth with the Golden Eagles as both teams struggled to gain and keep a lead with six ties and four lead changes. The Golden Eagles had a four-point lead with a minute left in the first half but a buzzer beater from Devin Collins would bring the Golden Eagles lead to just two points, closing out the half with a score of 37-35. Graduate student Devin Collins managed to score in double figures in the opening half with 11 points. Collins and center Prince Mosengo both grabbed six rebounds apiece in the first half.
In the second half, the Pioneers two point deficit through the first seven minutes of the half would turn into a nine-point deficit as the Pioneers struggled to get their offense going in the second half. The Pioneers shot just 30% from the field and 28% from three in the second half compared to Charleston's 37% from the field and 57% from three, eventually leading to Charleston's 74-62 victory.

The Golden Eagles were lead in scoring by Ja'Corey Lipkins, who had 15 points, followed by Trevor Barrett with 13 points. CJ Meredith and Obinna Ugwuakazi both led UC on the boards with 11 rebounds each. Dwaine Jones showed his ability to share the ball by leading the team in assists with five in the win. On the defensive side of the ball, the Golden Eagles were led by Matthew Shelton, who had three blocks on the night and Ugwuakazi who had 2 steals.

Devin Collins led the Pioneers with 14 points while managing to grab 10 rebounds, giving him a double-double. Big man Prince Mosengo was a beast on the boards tonight, grabbing 18 rebounds and falling just two points shy of a double-double. Gus Eddy led the team in steals tonight with two. Three different Pioneers led the team in blocks with one. Dominiq Penn had an impressive game as well with 10 points and seven rebounds from the guard spot.
