GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Volleyball team fell to West Virginia State, 3-0, on Monday evening inside the Waco Center in Glenville.
In the first set, the Pioneers worked to tie the set at ten apiece, however a six-to-zero WVSU run would put the set out of reach for GSU as WV State would win set one, 25-16. Set two saw the Pioneers fall behind early, but work back to a three-point deficit in the middle portion of the set. Once again, the Jackets went on an extended run to put the set out of reach, winning set two, 25-14. Set three was back-and-forth early as the Pioneers trailed 11-7, however WVSU would not let GSU back into the set. The Pioneers lost set three, 25-15, and the match, 3-0.

West Virginia State
Hannah Steele and Baby Moleni led the team in kills with 11, while Kiersten Eggleton recorded 31 assists. Defensively, Valencia Wilder recorded two blocks and Moleni had one. Eggleton and Hannah Steele had 13 digs to lead WVSU.
Glenville State
Rita Kelly led the team in kills on the night with five, as Malerie Ross and Deniz Selen-Yazar both had three. Sadie Hill recorded seven assists while Bella Baragona pitched in five. Defensively at the net, Greta Petofi and Lauryn O'Lenic both had two blocks and Hill also led the team in digs with nine while Ross recorded seven.

The Pioneers will hit the road and travel to Buckhannon for a conference matchup with West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday (Nov. 8). The match is slated for 7 p.m.
