HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Glenville State Indoor Track & Field teams completed the Mountain East Conference Indoor Championship today in Huntington, crowning Janae Scott MEC Champion in the shot put while Natalie Barr took 2nd in the 800m run. Overall, the women finished 6th and the men 8th.
THE CHAMPION
Janae Scott won the shot put with a throw of 13.49m, .32m further than the second-place thrower. Scott also competed in the weight throw, throwing 11.90m and placing 14th.
HOW THE PIONEERS FINISHED
The Women
Natalie Barr received the silver medal after running a time of 2:18 in the 800m run. With Barr's placement, she becomes the first Pioneer all-conference distance runner since TJ Abel in 2012.
Hannah Hill took 10th in the 800m run, crossing at 2:25. Her finish now puts her second all-time.
Savannah Cunningham also competed in the 800m run, finishing with a time of 2:35 and placing 14th.
Samantha Dawson was 15th in the 1-mile run with a time of 6:10.
Bridgette Knapp took 4th in the high jump at 1.52m.
Kimberly Halsey (5th – 2.93m) and Sara Lowe (8th – 2.48m) both scored in the pole vault.
Macy Hilvers took 12th in the weight throw with a throw of 12.25m.
The 4x400m relay took 7th while the distance medley team placed 4th and broke the school record by 31 seconds.
The Men
Aaron Kupfner finished the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.47, placing 5th in the finals. He ran a 8.36 in the prelims.
John Bowen placed 4th in the pole vault at 3.70m.
Brandon Bowie took 6th in the shot put with a throw of 14.31m.
Charlie Bauman finished right behind Bowie, placing 7th at 14.11m.
Michael Clay placed 12th in the shot put (13.06m) and 15th in the weight throw (12.77m).
Casey Mahoney was the final Pioneer to place in the shot put, taking 13th with a throw of 13.05m.
Christian Hanna was 10th in the weight throw at 13.77m.

The Pioneers will now prepare for the outdoor season, which begins on March 14th at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, N.C.
