GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Softball will conclude their season series with Charleston tomorrow (Mar. 29) and West Virginia State on Saturday (Mar. 30) as MEC play continues for the Pioneers. GSU was swept by the Golden Eagles and split with the Yellow Jackets a few weeks ago.

THE OPPONENTS
CHARLESTON
The 15th ranked Golden Eagles enter (22-1, 10-0 MEC) and have won 13 games in a row. UC's last loss came on Mar. 1 against Winona State.
Michelle Frew is in her third season as HC of the Golden Eagles. She led UC to their first ever MEC Championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2023. Frew came to Charleston after spending 25 years at Rollins College, winning the Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year award four times. In her 28 years of coaching, Frew's players have earned 24 All-American awards, 93 Regional Awards and 144 players have earned conference recognition.
Four Golden Eagles are batting over .300, led by Hannah Rose's remarkable .479 clip. She also leads the team in OPS (1.359), hits (34) and stolen bases (12) while adding 5 HR and 17 RBI to her stat line. Allysa Lake has brought plenty of power to the lineup, leading the squad in home runs (6) and RBI (24) with an average of .377. In total, seven Charleston hitters have double-digit RBI's. The pitching staff is led by Chloe Elliot (4-0, 1.21 ERA) and Brianna McCown (14-1, 1.85 ERA) as McCown has struck out 98 batters and held batters to a .196 AVG over 83.1 innings of work.
WEST VIRGINIA STATE
The Yellow Jackets come in (13-16, 5-5 MEC) following a sweep of Wheeling and splitting with West Liberty this past weekend.
Mattie Best is in her 6th season leading the WVSU Softball program after being the Interim Head Coach in 2017. In her six seasons at the helm, Best has won one MEC Regular Season title, one MEC Tournament championship and appeared two NCAA Atlantic Regionals. She played collegiately at WVSU, starting all four years for the Yellow Jackets.
Autumn Thompson leads the offensive attack for WVSU, posting a team leading .366 AVG, 1.002 OPS, 30 hits, and nine doubles. Kaitlyn Cabral has the most home runs with two while Addi Dillow is first in RBI with 18. Thompson also leads the pitching efforts with an ERA of 2.74 and a W-L record of 8-6.
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
The Pioneers are (9-12, 3-7 MEC) after being swept by West Virginia Wesleyan and splitting with Davis & Elkins last weekend.
Kylee Goodman (.426 AVG, 1.083 OPS, 2 HR, 10 RBI) and Monica Rodelo (.300 AVG, 4 HR, 18 RBI) have swung the bat well for the Pioneers thus far. Freshman Delaney Warnick has been phenomenal as well, hitting .286 with a team leading 6 HR and 19 RBI. As a team, GSU has hit 18 HR with four Pioneers hitting two or more.
Meghan Stump (1.42 ERA) and Holly Brehm (1.58 ERA) are atop the ERA leaderboard for the Pioneers while Brehm has fanned 77 over 57.2 innings pitched. Brehm has also tossed out six complete games as Stump and Caitlyn Kassay have notched two each.
