GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Softball opens up their 10-game homestand with a pair of doubleheaders this weekend against Fairmont State (Apr. 13) and Frostburg State (Apr. 14). The Pioneers were swept by the Falcons and Bobcats both last year.

THE OPPONENTS
FAIRMONT STATE
The Falcons enter (29-7, 12-2 MEC), splitting with Notre Dame College on Saturday and sweeping Salem on Sunday.
Brooke Sullivan is in her second season leading the Falcons. In 2023, she led Fairmont State to a (33-23, 21-11 MEC) record, eventually falling to Charleston late in the MEC Tournament to end their season. Sullivan came to FSU from Seton Hill, where she was an assistant coach for three seasons. While at SHU, Sullivan and the Griffins won a historic 42 games and reached the school's first ever DII National Championship series in 2022. She also spent time as an assistant at Frostburg State for two years.
Bella Hess (.478) and Emily Riggs (.402) both sit over the .400 average mark while Riggs is also leading the team in doubles (7), home runs (7) and RBI (39). Six other Falcons are hitting over .300 on the year with another eight having 10 or more RBI's. The pitching staff is led by Delaney Haller's 14-1 record, 1.22 ERA and 82 strikeouts over 103 innings pitched. Three other Falcons are featured in the rotation, but only one has over 50 IP.
FROSTBURG STATE
The Bobcats are (20-13, 11-3 MEC) after defeating NDC and Salem last weekend but getting swept by Shippensburg on Wednesday.
Bill Vasko is in his sixth season at the helm of Bobcat Softball. Frostburg's 31 wins last year marked the most in program history since 2013, qualifying for the MEC Tournament. In 2022, the Vasko-led Bobcats won 29 games and made it to the MEC Championship, eventually falling to West Liberty. Vasko came to FSU after being an assistant at DI UMass Lowell for four seasons.
Jamie Roberts leads the team in AVG (.414), OPS (1.205), hits (46), home runs (9) and RBI (40). Allyssa Albright, Samara Funk and Arden Miller have all hit three home runs with Miller totaling 24 RBI, which is second on the team. Albright leads the Bobcats in doubles with 11. The Frostburg State pitching staff holds a team ERA of 5.57, led by Sydney Theobald's 4.89 ERA.
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
The Pioneers come in (13-16, 7-11 MEC), following a sweep of West Liberty on Monday. GSU split with Wheeling the day prior on Sunday.
Kylee Goodman is the lone Pioneer batting over .300, sitting at .374 with 34 hits, four doubles, one triple, two home runs and 11 RBI. Delaney Warnick (.292 AVG, 6 HR, 21 RBI) and Monica Rodelo (.272 AVG, 4 HR, 21 RBI) have brought the most power to the Glenville lineup thus far. In total, the Pioneers have mashed 21 home runs and brought in 99 runs.
Following a stellar weekend, Holly Brehm is now 7-6 with a 1.69 ERA and 124 strikeouts over 83 innings pitched. The fifth-year standout has started in 12 games and completed nine of them. Meghan Stump (2.36 ERA) and Kylie Burdick (2.80 ERA) have also been pitching well for GSU, totaling another 67 innings and 40 strikeouts between the two of them.
