CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Glenville State Baseball team lost to the University of Charleston 7-6 today in the Mountain East Conference Tournament, falling out of the tournament and ending their 2024 campaign at (28-21).

A Zach Morris RBI single to center scored Carlos De Jesus and put the Pioneers on the board first. Two innings later, De Jesus hit a no doubt 2-run HR to left field, making it 3-0 Pioneers. UC scored their first run of the game in the 4th on a fielder's choice, trimming the deficit to two. In the top of 6th, GSU put up a three spot on the scoreboard on a pair of singles to the pitcher and a ground out.
Charleston answered back with four runs in the bottom half of the 6th to make it a one-run game. Another run in the 7th by the Golden Eagles tied it up, followed by the game-winning run in the 8th for UC. The Pioneers went down in order in the top of the 9th as UC won 7-6.

Carlos De Jesus and Zach Morris both recorded two hits while De Jesus led the team with 3 RBI. Morris added an RBI in the loss. Julian Minaya started the game, going four innings and allowing just one run (earned) on one hit, four walks and seven strikeouts. Cole Grady allowed one run (earned) late, taking the loss.
Four Golden Eagles finished with two hits as Hector Carreon-Herrera and Drew Klaserner finished with a team-leading 2 RBI each. Five Charleston pitchers touched the mound as Campbell Spradling took the win after 1.1 innings. Trey Ritchie picked up his fourth save of the year.
