BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Glenville State athletes
Holly Brehm and
Ian Pomeroy have been named MEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year finalists for the second consecutive year, the league announced.
Brehm, a standout pitcher on the softball team from Mullens, W.Va., was named a finalist following her third-straight remarkable season. Brehm finished with a 3.75 GPA as an exercise science major, was named to the GSU Provost's List, Academic All-MEC selection and earned All-MEC First Team honors for the third consecutive season.
Pomeroy, who was the leading force of the GSU offensive line this past season, was named a finalist after posting a 3.87 GPA in his quest for his Master's in Business Administration. The Beckley, W.Va. native was an All-MEC First Team selection for the second-straight year as well as earning Academic All-MEC.
The winners will be announced on Friday, June 28 by the Mountain East Conference.
