BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Glenville State Women's Cross Country team was picked ninth in the Mountain East Conference preseason poll, the league announced today.
Defending champion Charleston was picked first by the league's coaches, tallying 98 points and eight first place votes, followed by Davis & Elkins with 93 points and three first place votes. Eighth-place Fairmont State was selected just in front of the Pioneers with 39 points, as Wheeling (10th, 27 points) and West Virginia State (11th, 11 points) rounded out the poll.
Coach Dan Meyers returns for his fifth season leading the Cross Country program as they look to improve on last year's season. The Pioneer Women return multiple key returners from last year's historic season in Natalie Barr, the first all-region selection in program history and Savannah Cunningham, regional participant and 2nd fastest 6k in program history.
The Pioneer women open the 2024 campaign at the West Liberty Invite in Wheeling, W.Va. on September 5th.
