GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Women's Soccer team improved to a (2-0) record after a 1-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan earlier today at Roberts Stadium. The Pioneers managed to pull out a win while being outshot 16-6 by the Red Hawks.
1st Half
The first half was back and forth with both teams having chances to score. Roberts Wesleyan had eight shots compared to Glenville State's three. Neither team found the back of the net, leading to the first half ending in a stalemate.
2nd Half
Early in the second half, Marcelle Stoller managed to put the Pioneers on the board courtesy of an assist from Emma Moreno. The Red Hawks tried to answer back with four shots on goal, but thanks to Lucia Lopez's four second half saves, they weren't successful as the Pioneers got the win over the Red Hawks.
Final Stats
Roberts Wesleyan
Alyssa Hackett led the Red Hawks with three shots, including one shot on goal. Three other Red Hawks were tied with two shots apiece. Nicolette Knauf allowed one goal and recorded five saves in the loss to the Pioneers.
Glenville State
Marcelle Stoller scored Glenville State's only goal on her lone shot attempt. Assisting on the goal was Emma Moreno. Merel Smets led the Pioneers in shots with two. Lucia Lopez showcased her skills with seven saves for the Pioneers, sealing the victory over the Red Hawks.
