Volleyball Completes Grand Rapids Downtown Classic in Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Glenville State Volleyball team completed the Grand Rapids Downtown Classic in Michigan on Saturday (Sept. 14), falling in all four games of the early season tournament. The Pioneers faced Davenport on Thursday, Bemidji State and Northwood on Friday and closed out the weekend with a loss to Tiffin on Saturday.

Game One - GSU 0 | Davenport 3
The Pioneers remained close early in the first set, however a late surge by Davenport allowed them to take the first stanza, 25-18. The Panthers rolled to a second-set victory, 25-13, before being heavily contested by GSU in the final set. Glenville held a 17-16 lead and had it all tied up at 22 but three-straight points by DU pushed the Panthers to a 3-0 win.

Game Two - GSU 0 | Bemidji State 3
A back-and-forth first stanza set the tone for the match as the Pioneers trailed by as much as six points but a strong comeback by the blue and white made it a one-point set at 23-22. BSU closed out the opening set and won the second stanza, 25-11. The third set was much closer, sitting at a 22-22 tie prior to the Beavers taking the final three points of the set to win the match, 3-0.
