GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Women's Soccer team took an astounding win over Davis & Elkins, 1-0, tonight at Morris Stadium. The Pioneers add another win to to their record, now sitting at (3-1, 1-1 MEC).
1st Half
In the first half, the Pioneers took the lead early at the 11-minute mark, courtesy of a goal by Valentina Quiroz, who was assisted by Marcelle Stoller. The Pioneers had plenty of other chances to score with eight shots in the first half, outshooting the Senators by five shots. With the little amount of shots, the Senators still had an opportunity to score with two shots on goal.
2nd Half
The Pioneers fought hard in the second half to maintain their lead over the Senators. Again, the Pioneers outshot the Senators, having plenty of chances to score but were unlucky. The Pioneers defense came up big in the second half, only allowing D&E to have five shots and one shot on goal, while preventing a score and sealing the win for the Pioneers, 1-0.

Davis & Elkins
Taytum Walls and Rylie Galterio led the Senators offense with two shots and one shot on goal apiece. Behind them was a four-way tie for the second most shots with one each. Monica Birkelund gave her best effort to keep the Pioneers from adding to their lead with eight saves in tonight's game.
Glenville State
Valentina Quiroz had Glenville State's only goal of the game with Marcelle Stoller assisting on the goal. Aitana Viejo lead the Pioneers in shots with five and Merel Smets and Emma Moreno had opportunities to score, leading the team in shots on goal with two each. The Pioneers gave up no goals today, thanks to Lucia Lopez's two saves and Anjolie Colon's one save.
