GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Men's Basketball looks get out of their three-game slump this week as they travel to Frostburg State on Wednesday (Jan. 29) and host conference rival and the nation's No. 7 team, Fairmont State, on Saturday (Feb. 1).

THE OPPONENTS
FROSTBURG STATE
2024-25 Season
The Bobcats enter their second matchup against the Pioneers with a record of (9-9, 6-5 MEC). The first meeting saw GSU control most of the contest and win, 88-72. Frostburg is currently ranked 6th in the MEC standings as their offense is ranked 9th and their defense is ranked 5th amongst MEC teams.
Head Coach
Zack Thomsen enters his second season as the head coach of Frostburg State University men's basketball program. In Coach Thomsen's first season at Frostburg State, he led his team to a record of (3-26, 2-18 MEC) which helped the team make their first ever MEC tournament appearance.
Quick Look at The Bobcats
This season, the Bobcats are led by Jaden Baker, who is averaging 19.9 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals a game. Baker's 19.9 PPG is leading the MEC in scoring. Koby Baptiste is leading the team on the boards, averaging eight a game while also contributing 13 points and two steals a game. Chase Whippen and JayShaun Freeman are both averaging ten points per game for the Bobcats.
FAIRMONT STATE
2024-25 Season
The Falcons are 1st in the MEC standings and ranked No. 7 in the country with a record of (16-2, 10-1 MEC). In their first matchup of the year against the Pioneers, the Falcons took the win on their home court, 106-81. The Falcons are ranked 2nd in offense and 1st in defense in the league.
Head Coach
Tim Koenig is in his sixth season as the Head Coach of Fairmont State Men's Basketball program. Coach Koenig was named Fairmont's Head Coach in 2019 and in that same year he won the Mountain East Conference Coach of the Year.
Quick Look at The Falcons
The Falcons are led by David Jolinder's 17 points, six rebounds and one steal per game. Andre Harris (13 points), Rudy Fitzgibbons (12 points), Taj Thweatt (12 points) and Tommy Williams (10 points) cap off the Falcons who are averaging double digits per game. Harris and Thweatt are leading the team on the boards with six rebounds per game. The Falcons, as a team, are averaging 10 steals per game and two blocks per game which helps power the best defense in the MEC.
THE PIONEERS

2024-25 Season
The Pioneers, after last weeks play, have fell to 8th in the MEC rankings. The Pioneers record now stands at (9-9, 4-7 MEC). GSU's defense is currently ranked the third-best in the MEC.
Quick Look at The Pioneers
The Pioneers are led by Devin Collins, who is averaging 16.5 points and four rebounds while shooting 49% from the field and 48% from the three-point line. Freshman Ammar Maxwell, who has been outstanding this year, is averaging 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal per game. The Freshman sniper, Don Colon-Lewis, is averaging 11 points, five rebounds and one steal a night. Prince Mosengo, who is leading the team in rebounds a game with nine is also averaging 10 points a game. The Pioneers on defense are averaging seven steals and three blocks per game as a team.
