BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Glenville State Women's Basketball team has been picked 3rd in the Mountain East Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the league announced at today's MEC Basketball Media Day.

The conference's defending regular season and tournament champion, Fairmont State, is selected to win the MEC once again with seven first-place votes and 94 total points. West Virginia Wesleyan received one first-place vote and 79 points to take 2nd right in front of the Lady Pioneers, who totaled 78 points and one first-place vote. Charleston rounded out the top four with 77 points and two first-place votes. From there, Concord (60), Frostburg State (56), West Virginia State (48), West Liberty (39), Wheeling (39), Point Park (25) and Davis & Elkins (10) finished the poll.

The Lady Pioneers went (19-12) overall and (11-9) in MEC play last season, finishing 6th in the regular season and advancing to the MEC Tournament Championship game against Fairmont State. Head coach Emily Stoller brings back MEC Freshman of the Year Nwando Okigbo, who averaged a double-double in 2024-25 (12.1 PPG, 10.8 RPG) and shot nearly 40% from the field. In addition to Okigbo, starters Ashlyn Riley (8.0 PPG, 4.3 RPG) and Stevi Yancy (6.4 PPG, 3.4 APG) are back in Glenville.

Stoller hit the recruiting trail hard once again, bringing in seven transfers and four high school signees. The transfer portal class is headlined by Carine Pinkney, who transferred in from Salem and played in nine games for the Tigers in 2024-25 with averages of 17.2 PPG, 3.4 RPG and 2.1 APG. Khalia Bryant is in the blue & white for her senior year after averaging 10.1 PPG and 8.5 RPG and shooting 51% from the field last season at Kentucky State.

Glenville State opens the new season on November 14 at the West Chester Tournament against Kutztown.
