GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer Women's Soccer team fell 4-1 to Frostburg State Wednesday (Octo. 1) night at Morris Stadium after jumping out to an early 1-0 lead. The Pioneers drop to (1-6-1, 1-4-1) on the season.
1st Half
The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead in the 15th minute when Aitana Viejo scored her first goal of the season, winning possession off a steal and finishing to the back of the net. Frostburg answered quickly, leveling the match just two minutes later on a long-distance strike from Carly Gillette, who scored from nearly 30 yards out. Both sides traded chances through the remainder of the half as the game went into the break tied 1-1.
2nd Half
After halftime, Frostburg took control of the match. The Bobcats regained the lead in the 60th minute as Mollie Rebuck scored off an assist from Cassidy Paige. Paige provided another helper in the 74th minute, setting up Rebuck once again to extend the lead to 3-1. Just four minutes later, Elena Fernandez added Frostburg's fourth and final goal to put the game away.
