PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Glenville State Pioneer Women's Soccer team delivered a statement win Monday afternoon, defeating Point Park 2-0 at Highmark Stadium. The victory marks Glenville's second win of the season and their second shutout in conference play, improving to (2-6-1, 2-4-1 MEC).
1st Half
The Pioneers wasted no time setting the tone. In the 12th minute, Solares Solano opened the scoring off a perfect pass from right back Sofia Jalaksova, who surged up from defense and sent a sharp cross into the box that Solano calmly finished past the keeper after a first blocked shot attempt. Goalkeeper Lucia Lopez anchored the backfield throughout the half, stopping multiple close-range chances and keeping the team organized. Glenville carried a 1-0 lead into halftime behind disciplined defending and quick counterattacks.
2nd Half
The match tightened after the break as both sides traded opportunities, but Glenville's defensive unit stayed composed and resilient. The Pioneers frustrated Point Park's attack, closing down passing lanes and denying clean looks at goal. In the 83rd minute, Solares Solano struck again, burying her second goal of the afternoon and fourth of the season to seal the win. The backline stayed locked in through the closing minutes, protecting the shutout and capping off a complete team performance on the road.
