GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State athletes
Solares Solano and
Jeremiah King have been marked GoMart Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced.
Solano, a true freshman on the Women's Soccer team, totaled three goals as the Pioneers went (2-0) with victories over Salem and Wheeling. In the Pioneers 7-0 win at Salem, Solano netted two goals while being the difference maker in the Pioneers 1-0 home win over Wheeling. Her two goals scored at Salem were done in just 42 minutes of game action.
King, a redshirt sophomore running back with the Pioneer football team, continued boosted his streak of 100 or more rushing yards to three games on Saturday as the redshirt sophomore ran for 142 yards on 23 carries and scored two touchdowns in the Pioneers 40-32 victory. He opened up the game with a 55-yard run before notching his first TD of the afternoon on the next play from 15 yards out.
