Pioneers Grind Out Gritty 1–0 Win Over Wheeling

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – In a battle played under relentless rain and swirling winds, the Glenville State Pioneer Women's Soccer tea, showed heart and toughness, earning a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Wheeling Sunday (Oct. 19) afternoon at Morris Stadium.

1st Half
Both teams came out locked in despite the brutal weather conditions. The rain poured steadily throughout the opening 45 minutes, but Glenville stayed composed, moving the ball well and keeping the pressure on Wheeling's defense. Neither side found the back of the net, but the Pioneers created the better chances with six first-half shots while their back line stayed solid against the Cardinals' counters.

2nd Half
The breakthrough finally came in the 49th minute when Solares Solano buried her eighth goal of the season, slotting it home to give Glenville a 1–0 lead. From there, it turned into a gritty defensive battle as the Pioneers held their ground in the heavy rain. The Cardinals pushed hard in the final stretch, but Glenville's defensive unit and goalkeeper Lucia Lopez stood tall to secure the clean sheet.
