BUCKHANNON, W.Va. - The Glenville State Volleyball team fell to West Virginia Wesleyan in straight sets earlier tonight in Buckhannon, 3-0. The Pioneers fall to (8-9, 1-2 MEC) on the year.
After falling behind 4-2 in the opening set, the Pioneers scored six unanswered to gain a four-point advantage early on. From there, WVWC made a run as well, gaining a four-point lead of their own before the two squads traded points. GSU made it close at the end, however the Bobcats were able to close the set at 25-23. The following two sets saw West Virginia Wesleyan jump out to 3-0 leads and never look back, recording a 25-16 set two win and 25-17 set three victory.

Bhrooke Axe and Emily Denison led the Bobcats with nine kills each. MacKenna Halfin and Emonie Fennell added eight in the win. Lacy Gutherie (25) and Claire Wheeler (11) both finished with double-digit assists. Defensively, Faith Grafton led with nine digs while Denison had a team-high four blocks.
Glenville State
Freshman Kaiya Lian led the Pioneers with eight kills while Keleigh Chrisman added seven. Sadie Hill finished with 17 assists and Elitsa Peneva notched eight. Cali Queen had 14 digs on defense with Mikayla Curry logged two blocks in the loss.
