Barr Wins Silver Race as Women Place 3rd and Men Finish 2nd at Swags Louisville XC Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Glenville State Cross Country teams had a monster day yesterday (Oct. 5) at the Swags Louisville XC Classic, as Natalie Barr won the Silver race, the women placed 3rd as a team and the men were runner-up as a team in the Silver race.
 
NEW SCHOOL RECORD
In addition to winning the 205-runner 5k race, Barr broke her own school record at 18:23!
 
HOW THE PIONEERS FINISHED
The Women
Finishing third as a squad, the women used impressive finishes from Barr (1st) and Jenna Barnett, who placed sixth with a time of 19:27, and Katie Hicks, who notched a 19th-place finish and moved up to sixth all-time at 20:01. Abby Dixon and Morgan Ruggles were back-to-back at No. 36 & 37, with Dixon crossing the line at 20:32 and Ruggles at 20:33 (personal best). Ella Austin PR'd and was a near top 50 finisher at #53, running a time of 20:54. Laura Cain (57th, 20:57) and Kamryn Armstrong (77th, 21:26) were also top 100 finishers with Armstrong having a new personal best.
 
The Men
The Pioneer men were 2nd of 33 teams, and ranked 1st of collegiate teams as UKY Run Club 3 took first-place in the race. Nick Pitchford led the way for GSU, placing 9th out of 246 runners in the 8k race with a time of 26:11. Jackson Mallett PR'd and moved into 10th all-time with a No. 10 and 26:18 finish. Patrick Reilly was right there as well, crossing the finish line with a time of 26:29 and placing 12th. Caden Davis made it four Pioneer runners inside the top 25 as the sophomore placed 22nd with a time of 26:46. Landon Griffith (53rd, 27:49), Luke Barr (60th, 27:56) and Lance Busse (65th, 28:09) rounded out the top finishers for GSU.
 
Up Next For The Pioneers
The Pioneers will travel to Pittsburgh on Saturday (Oct. 11) to compete in the Carnegie Mellon Invite.
