GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State athletes Natalie Barr, Nick Pitchford and Brandon Penn have been announced GoMart Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced. Pitchford and Penn share the Male award this week after stellar performances over the weekend.

Barr, a senior out of Canvas, W.Va., won the Silver Race at the Swags Louisville XC Classic on Saturday (Oct. 4), beating out 205 runners while also breaking her own school record at 18:23.

Pitchford, a sophomore cross country runner out of Eleanor, W.Va., placed 9^th out of 246 runners in Louisville. Pitchford's top 10 finish helped the Pioneer men race out to a 2^nd place in a 33-team race.

Penn, a redshirt senior defensive back on the Pioneer football team, was instrumental in Glenville State's 36-24 Battle For The Bit victory over Fairmont State in Clarksburg on Saturday. The Parkersburg, W.Va., native totaled 10 tackles, one blocked punt and a pass breakup in the win.
