INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Glenville State Volleyball battled but ultimately fell in three sets to West Virginia State last night (Nov. 4) in Institute.
The first set was back-and-forth the entire way as the Pioneers had a service ace to tie the game at 24 all, and a kill by Deniz Selen Yazar tied the game at 25, however WVSU would score the final two points to take set one, 27-25. In set two, GSU found themselves trailing early, but a four-to-zero run to cut into the deficit but the comeback couldn't be completed as GSU fell in the second set, 25-16. In the third set, Glenville State would find themselves trailing early on again, but the Pioneers surged for a four-zero run to cut the Jacket lead to just two before WVSU closed the game out with the final three points of the match, winning the set, 25-20 and the match, 3-0.

West Virginia State
Alyssa Hill led the team with 14 kills and Kelsey McKeehan had 17 assists. Defensively, Nicole Gartner Custodio had 11 blocks and one solo block while Carmen Perez and Lilly Adkins both had 10 digs.
Glenville State
Rita Kelly led the attack with seven kills, Keleigh Chrisman had six and Kaiya Lian had five while Sadie Hill had 11 assists and Elitsa Peneva had eight. On defense, Deniz Selen Yazar had four blocks and Kelly had three. Ava O'Hare led the team with 19 digs in the defeat.
