GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State athletes
Nwando Okigbo and
Elijah Redfern have been picked GoMart Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced.
Okigbo, a sophomore out of Anambra, Nigeria, logged a double-double in the Lady Pioneers defeat at Bluefield State on Tuesday (Nov. 26). She had 12 points and 11 rebounds with five assists, three steals and a block as well. Okigbo shot nearly 50% from the field and seven of her boards were offensive rebounds.
Redfern, a sophomore guard on the men's basketball team, averaged 20.5 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 3.0 APG and 2.0 APG in the Pioneers (1-1) week against a pair of PSAC opponents. In the Pioneers loss at Slippery Rock, the Beckley, W.Va. native had 16 points, four rebounds and three assists before putting together 25 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists in Glenville State's 86-76 win over previously undefeated Seton Hill. He shot 9-of-12 from the field in the victory.
