GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer Women's Basketball team ended December with a non-conference win over Virginia Wise, 90-77, earlier today (Dec. 20) inside the Waco Center. GSU has now won five games in a row and currently sit at (8-2) overall.
1st Half
In the first quarter, UVA Wise started off hot, taking a four-point lead early, but threes from Keanti Thompson and Jaycee Elzy tied the game before the Cavaliers ended the quarter on a five-zero run to take the lead at 24-19. Khalia Bryant started off the scoring in the second with a layup, and scores from Carine Pinkney, Wonder Nkoyock, Stevi Yancy and Ashlyn Riley gave the Lady Pioneers a six-point lead at the half, 42-36.
2nd Half
Nwando Okigbo made a layup to begin the third quarter, Payton James had a layup, and free throws from Bryant pushed the Glenville State lead to 17. Pinkney added onto her scoring with a layup to extend the lead to 21 at the end of three quarters. In the fourth and final stanza, Yancy began things with a layup, Jayda Allie connected on a layup, and the Lady Pioneers iced the game away late with free throws, winning 90-77 over a strong UVA Wise squad.

UVA Wise
Madison Looney led the Cavaliers with 25 points while Caroline Mullins had 18 points and nine rebounds. Alissa Cheek added 11 points in the defeat.
Glenville State
Carine Pinkney and Nwando Okigbo led the team with 15 points each. Wonder Nkoyock and Keanti Thompson both had 10 and Ashlyn Riley had nine while Khalia Bryant, Jayda Allie and JayCee Elzy all had seven points in the Lady Pioneers fifth-straight victory.
