THE OPPONENTS
BLUEFIELD STATE
The Big Blue roll into town with a (3-3) start on the young season. The 2024 team managed a record of (13-24, 8-8), missing the CIAA tournament. The preseason poll rated them at 7th and noted no preseason all-conference players. They do return a second-team selection in outfielder Paige Whittington as well as an all-rookie selection in utility player Madison Roland.
GANNON
The Golden Knights begin their season on Saturday after a 2024 season that saw them receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament after a record of (32-15, 25-6 PSAC). They were picked as the top team in the PSAC preseason poll for the western division, as well as receiving the most first place votes overall. They return three all-conference performers in first baseman Natalia Mallozzi, outfielder Emma Smerick and pitcher Maggie Lenda. Head coach Michelle Wiley also received coach of the year honors for the PSAC eastern division in 2024.
ASHLAND
The Eagles come in (2-2) after opening the city up at the Music City Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. Ashland picked up a win over No. 3 Indianapolis and Missouri-St. Louis but fell to McKendree and Illinois Springfield to close out the weekend. In 2024, AU went (19-26, 12-14 GMAC), including a 3-1 loss to the Pioneers in Florida. The Eagles are under a new regime with Jackie Price as the first-year head coach returned a duo of pitchers and a plethora of production from last year's lineup. Of those returning, two-time All-GMAC selection Danielle Robbins headlines as the junior has started off the year batting .333 with two RBIs and four runs scored.
BOWIE STATE
The Bulldogs will arrive in Glenville at (1-2), their lone win this season a 4-3 victory over Elizabeth City State. Their 2024 squad had a very successful year, taking home the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (CIAA) championship before being bounced in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. In the CIAA preseason poll, the Bulldogs were picked to finish first. They had multiple selections on the preseason all-conference team with pitcher Lindsey George and outfielder Jayla Hill being picked.
