INSTITUTE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Softball team took the sweep today in their doubleheader against West Virginia State, winning 8-4 in the first game and 9-1 in the final game of the day. The Pioneers record now stands at (13-8, 3-1 MEC).
Game One – GSU 8 | WVSU 4
The Pioneers would get the scoring started with a double from Monica Rodelo, who would bat one runner in. The Pioneers batters started to heat up in the third inning, adding three more runs to their lead. GSU kept this hot streak going in the fourth inning, plating two more runs to bring their advantage to six total runs. In the fifth inning, the Pioneers scored another run but the Yellow Jackets would manage to get on the board, finally scoring two runs. In an effort to comeback, the Yellow Jackets wouldn't allow the Pioneers to score in the sixth inning and would again add two runs to trim the Glenville State lead to three runs heading into the final inning of play. GSU added another run in the seventh to put it out of reach, 8-4.

West Virginia State
Chloe Treadway led the Yellow Jackets in hits with two while the rest of the team would combine for five hits. Kaleigh Murphy struck out three and gave up eight hits in the defeat.
Glenville State
Zailees Seda led the Pioneers with her 4-for-4 performance. Kylee Goodman had four RBIs to head the Pioneer attack. Meghan Stump was awarded the win after five innings, allowing no runs on four hits and one walk.
Game Two – GSU 9 | WVSU 1 (5 Inn.)
In the second game of the day, the Yellow Jackets would take an early lead in the first inning. After a pair of scoreless innings, GSU scored two runs to take the lead in the third inning. Neither team would score in the fourth inning but the Pioneers batters came unglued in the fifth inning, scoring nine runs and putting the game away in five innings of play to take their second win of the day, 9-1.
Final Stats
West Virginia State
Kylie Price led the Yellow Jackets in hits with two and the teams only run while two other Yellow Jackets had a hit each. Autumn Hall pitched four innings, striking out two and giving up five runs.
Glenville State
Emma McLean led the Pioneers in hits while eight other Pioneers had a hit each. Delaney Warnick led the Pioneers in runs and she also batted in two runners. Kylie Burdick pitched all five innings in which she struck out two and only allowed one run.

Glenville State travels to West Virginia Wesleyan College next Saturday (Mar. 22) in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
