WASHINGTON, Pa. – Glenville State Pioneer Baseball was on the road in unfamiliar territory earlier today for an afternoon doubleheader against new MEC foe Point Park. The trip to face the Pioneers from the north was the first-ever string of matchups between the schools, a set which saw the home squad take both games to drop Glenville State to (11-13) on the year, while Point Park improves to (16-6).
Game One – GSU 2 I Point Park 7
The first round got underway fast in GSU's favor as Zach Laurie would send Jacob Meadows home on a grounder to make things 1-0 in the top of the 1st. Point Park responded right back with an outfield single to knot the game up at 1. Things stayed deadlocked until the top of the 3rd inning when Adam Bright brought Austin Carter to paydirt on a sacrifice fly to put GSU back in front. However, the Point Park attack would activate on both sides, scoring three runs in the bottom half of the 3rd for a two run advantage, a lead they would not relinquish. Point Park stonewalled the GSU attack the rest of the way with additional insurance runs securing a 7-2 victory in favor of the home team.
Final Stats
Point Park
Jared Campbell was a key piece of the Pioneers attack, scoring three runs with a solo homer in the bottom of the 5th. Crixtian Taveras led with two RBIs while four of his teammates recorded one RBI apiece. Brandon Clifford picked up his second win of the year in six innings of work that saw him strike out five.

Game Two – GSU 1 I Point Park 2
The second bout between the Pioneers was a defensive showcase with both teams not doing their best to stuff production from their opposition. Point Park garnered the first run of the game on a throwing error in the 1st and picked up their second in the bottom of the 3rd on a single to right field. GSU would fight back and trim the lead to a single run through a Carlos De Jesus double that scored Zach Laurie, making things 2-1. Defense was the headline for the remainder of action however, with a goose egg from both offenses paving the way for Point Park to secure the tight win, 2-1.
