THE OPPONENTS
DAVIS & ELKINS
2025 Season
After a (6-16) record in out-of-conference play, the Senators have righted the ship to find themselves at (24-25) overall and in 3rd place in the MEC South Division with a two-game lead over Concord at (17-9) in league play. Winners of eight of their last 10, the Senators have been streaking and will enter Friday with high confidence after taking down the Lady Pioneers twice in their first duels earlier this season. With a pedigree of high play under 5th-year honcho Elle Fracker, Davis & Elkins will have a red X over the matchup with GSU as they strive to make their 3rd consecutive MEC title game.

Quick Look at The Senators
The first opponent of the week is propelled by a dangerous offensive attack, leading the conference in runs scored, total hits and RBIs, as well as 2nd place in team batting average and home runs. Junior Ashlyn Zapach has been the most prolific Senator in the box, currently hitting .439 with seven home runs and 48 RBIs to lead the conference. Not far behind is senior Linzey Allard, currently sitting at a .403 clip and 13 home runs, with 42 RBIs herself. The Senators' offensive triumvirate is rounded out by fellow senior Lina Gutierrez, just below Zapach and Allard at .394 with 32 RBIs and three dingers, also leading the MEC in triples. On the mound, the most consistent arm has been sophomore Sammie Jarvis, with a 4.13 ERA and 101 strikeouts, also team leader in wins at 11. Redshirt senior Saylor Kneeland is right behind Jarvis in production, with a 4.21 ERA and 10 victories in 2025.

WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN
2025 Season
The Bobcats have been up and down this year, sitting at (17-31) overall and (12-14) in conference, good enough for 5th in the MEC South. However, the record alone does not reflect the Bobcats, who are fresh off a sweep of south 2nd place University of Charleston and possess defeats of north division 1st and 2nd in Fairmont State and West Liberty. With a prolific head coach in long-term steward Steve Warner, the Bobcats will look to play spoiler as Coach Scoone looks to round off her most successful regular season yet against her alma mater.

Quick Look at The Bobcats
Junior Andie Dizon will be the biggest challenge for the Lady Pioneer pitching staff, leading the MEC in batting average at .463 and total hits at 69 and has brought home 37 runs on the year, as well as three home runs. Sophomore Josi Fix has been a consistent presence herself, hitting .316 with 22 RBIs. Sophomore Gracey Arnold is a threat as well with 13 extra-base hits and 22 RBIs. Senior Kendall Stoffel, fresh off of MEC pitcher of the week honors, will be a difficult matchup on the weekend for the Lady Pioneers, with a 2.35 ERA and 11 wins, and is high up in the MEC rankings with 129 strikeouts.

THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE

2025 Season
Prolific is one of many words that comes to mind that accurately describes the play of GSU in 2025. With the single-season victory mark already attained and an overall record of (31-14), the Lady Pioneers have an opportunity this weekend to nab their first conference division title in program history. Throughout a season that has found a plethora of the squad on leaderboards and record lists, this weekend presents a chance to soundly maneuver the team into prime positioning for the MEC Tournament and continue the momentum as Coach Scoone and the girls look to cap off their most outstanding season yet.

Quick Look at The Pioneers
It is difficult to find a starting point to highlight when looking at the numbers of GSU in 2025. Five players hold batting averages that would place them in the top 10 for single-season rankings in GSU history, led by veteran Makenna Negley at .414, a trend that finds her 5th in the MEC. Second-year Zailees Seda is right behind at a clip of .394, while Monica Rodelo, Delaney Warnick, Kylee Goodman and Emma McLean all sit above .300. McLean, a junior, is fresh off a weekend that included six RBIs, two stolen bases and one home run, while her classmate Goodman has been rolling all season with a .344 batting average, 30 RBIs and four home runs. Four Lady Pioneers sit at above 30 RBIs, led by the sophomore Warnick with 42, One away from tying the single-season school record. Her presence in the box has been a scary sight for opposing pitchers all 2025, her team-leading nine home runs ranking her 4th in the MEC in that category.  Rodelo brings power with her as well, bringing home 34 runs so far and knocking five out of the park. Longtime infield steward Addison Aguiniga and outfield mainstay Shelby McDaniels round out an order that brings pop all throughout, both in the .280s for average and recording over 20 RBIs.

The ever-highlighted strength of the pitching staff cannot be understated. Kylie Burdick, Meghan Stump and AndiJo Howard are 2nd, 5th and 6th in the MEC in ERA, all holding numbers that would place them top five in program history for a season in that category. Burdick has been nothing short of elite in her junior campaign, tied for the single-season GSU record in wins, 6th in the MEC in strikeouts with 91 and 5th in lowest opponent batting average. Stump's second go around in G-Vegas has been dominant, picking up eight wins and allowing the 4th lowest amount of hits in the conference. Finally, the first spin of Howard's college career already finds her in the top tier of MEC pitchers, holding a 2.76 ERA, seven wins, the second lowest amount of allowed hits in the conference and 3rd in lowest opponent batting average. The stellar play in all facets by all members of the Lady Pioneers has paved the way for this weekend to be an opportunity for the squad to finally attain their first elusive MEC regular season title.
