THE OPPONENTS
CONCORD
2025 Season
The Mountain Lions have been hot and cold throughout this season, currently holding a record of (15-20) and (10-8) in conference play, rolling into the hump day doubleheader on a two-game win streak after defeating Wheeling twice on Saturday (Apr. 5). While their record sits below .500, they have secured multiple victories over 2nd place University of Charleston and took game one of the first doubleheader against the Lady Pioneers two weeks ago. With fourth year head coach Alyssa Morris showing improvement in each of her turns at the helm, tomorrow presents an opportunity to make a statement and gain momentum as the regular season enters its final two weeks.
Quick Look at The Mountain Lions
The Concord offensive attack wields four batters hitting above .300 in 2025, led by junior Lacie Lewis and sophomore Kendall Morgan, hitting .378 and .376 respectively. Lewis has been nothing short of a problem this season, tied for the MEC lead in RBIs and sitting 3rd in home runs with nine. Morgan has been a consistent presence herself, currently 5th in league play in total hits, while another power threat in senior Courtney Raines awaits, ranking 5th in deep balls with five and T-9th in RBIs with 24. On the mound, the strongest arm has been Junior Madison Hollis, with a team-leading 3.85 ERA and a (5-3) record. Sophomore Josi Ervin is not far behind with a 4.73 ERA and (4-7) win-loss margin.
FAIRMONT STATE
2025 Season
The eyes of the MEC softball world will be focused in Marion County come Saturday (Apr. 12) as the Lady Pioneers will trek up I-79 for the north division commanding Falcons. Currently sitting at (24-11-1) and (9-3) in conference, Fairmont State has been grooving as of late with wins in eight of their last 10 games. This performance from 3rd year steward Brooke Lowery has been no surprise, winning the north division title each of the last two seasons and recording a school record 40 wins in 2024. With a lineup littered with high performers and a pitching staff that has been just as efficient, the Falcons present one of the Lady Pioneers' most difficult foes to date.
Quick Look at The Falcons
The offensive attack for the maroon is led by Freshman Alexa Foresha, 5th in the MEC with a .405 average and 9th ranking 24 RBIs. Behind her is five more Falcons batting over .300 on the year, a lineup that leads the MEC in RBIs, with the most on the squad belonging to fellow first year Emma Paul with 28. Junior Breonna Marietta has been their most consistent power hitter with four home runs to place her in a tie for 6th place in the conference, while her classmate Bella Hess leads the conference in runs scored at 33. Things get no easier to deal with on the mound, with two of the highest ranking pitchers in the MEC awaiting in sophomore Delaney Haller and freshman Caitlin Morey. Haller has been on a tear in 2025, with a 2nd ranked 2.26 ERA and unblemished conference-leading (14-0) record, as well as 4th in strikeouts with 71. Morey has been a force herself, ranking 5th in ERA at 2.38, T-4th in wins with eight and 6th in strikeouts with 59.
FROSTBURG STATE
2025 Season
The season has been a bit of a backpedal for the Bobcats, who after finishing 2nd in the north division in 2024, find themselves in 4th place and at a (10-24) overall clip as of today. This week, however, presents a chance to right the ship, also having doubleheaders against Concord and Fairmont State, as well as gain confidence as the end of the regular season approaches. It will certainly be a week that is important to 7th year coach Bill Vasko, attempting to right the ship and continue in the positive direction that he had begun in years prior.
Quick Look at The Bobcats
Junior Arden Miller presents one of the elite power hitters in the MEC, leading the league with 11 home runs and 3rd in RBIs with 31. Batting average has been lead by senior Samara Funk, who sits at .363, while Junior Gracie Nelson is not far behind at .349. On the bump, freshman Izabella Donaldson has received half of the team's victories, sitting at a (5-6) record overall, with senior Katie Chapple carrying the ERA crown for the Bobcats at 3.72.
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2025 Season
Outstanding is one of the words that comes to mind when describing the performance of the Lady Pioneers so far in 2025, riding in with a (23-12, 13-5 MEC) record. Currently leading in a host of both individual and team categories, the sun has been shining on the leaps that Coach Sara Scoone has made in her 5th year behind the wheel, fresh off of her 100th yesterday.
Quick Look at The Pioneers
It's hard to find an individual performance to start with, as Lady Pioneers have bombarded top 10 lists across the MEC in 2025. Two hitters, senior Makenna Negley and sophomore Zailees Seda, are above .400 batting average, ranking 4th and 5th in the MEC, respectively, at .418 and .412. Three have 25 or more RBIs on the year, led by sophomore Delaney Warnick with 36, junior Kylee Goodman at 28 and Negley at 25. Warnick has put the pressure on opposing pitchers all season long, 3rd in the MEC with eight home runs and tied for the lead in RBI with 34. All of these results have the Lady Pioneers leading the MEC with a team batting average of .322 and second in runs scored with 204. The strength of the pitching staff cannot be understated, led by a 3-headed monster in junior Kylie Burdick, sophomore Meghan Stump and freshman AndiJo Howard, all top 10 in the conference in ERA. Stump has been nothing short of dominant, leading with a 1.83 ERA and 3rd in lowest hits allowed. Howard has taken things by storm in her first go around, 1st in lowest hits allowed and 3rd in opponent batting average. Burdick has roped in 10 wins on the year, tied for 4th place, sitting at 7th in strikeouts with 58 and 5th in opponent batting average.
