BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Glenville State Women's Cross Country team is tabbed 9
th in the Mountain East Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the league announced today.
Charleston is the preseason favorite with 98 total points and eight first-place votes while defending champion Davis & Elkins is second with 90 points and the remaining three first-place votes. West Virginia Wesleyan (85 points), Concord (73 points), Frostburg State (59 points), Point Park (49 points), West Liberty (48 points) and Fairmont State (43 points) were all picked ahead of the Pioneers, who slated in at No. 9 with 30 points. Wheeling (20 points) and West Virginia State (10) completed the poll.
Glenville State is coming off an historic 2024 campaign, finishing 5
th at the MEC Championship, the program's highest finish since 1993.
Natalie Barr was an All-MEC First Teamer, the first since 1988. GSU also recorded their highest regional finish ever at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship at No. 17. Head Coach
Dan Meyers returns much of his core group from last year's squad with a mix of talented newcomers.
The Pioneers open the 2025 season at the West Liberty Invite on Thursday, September 4.
