GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Football is set to officially flip the calendar to the 2025 season with fall camp starting tomorrow (Aug. 6) on the brand new turf at the currently under construction Morris Family Health & Fitness Complex.

A mix of the old and a mix of the new is all over the Pioneer Football program, with nearly 45 newcomers set to take the field for the first time in Glenville blue while the same amount is ready for another season in the hills of Central West Virginia. For some of the first-time Pioneers, just because they're new doesn't mean they don't have experience, as 14 transfers are looking to make an immediate impact in the next chapter of their collegiate career.

It's the same story on the sidelines with Head Coach Mike Kellar already surpassing 30 years of coaching experience and entering his seventh season at the helm of the blue and white. Brian Hill has enjoyed over 30 years of coaching, many alongside Kellar as this makes his fifth season back in Glenville after multiple stops through the eastern panhandle and a hall of fame playing career in the early 90s. Defensive Coordinator JJ Mayer & Offensive Coordinator Jeremy Harmer are becoming veterans themselves, as the two have combined for over 30 years of coaching in their careers and a combined 15 at Glenville State. The veteran presence doesn't stop at Director of Football Ops / Special Teams Coordinator Dave McEntire, who is coming into his 19th season at Glenville State.

Mixing in the youth with veteran leadership has been a recipe for success throughout all of college football for years, whether it's with the roster or with the coaching staff. For GSU, it's an executed plan for both. Former standouts Javon Butler & Seth Arnold are both entering their second season with a headset, transitioning from leaders between the lines to the sideline. Jack Hofmann is coming into year one as the Offensive Tackles / Tight Ends Coach, looking to bring his knowledge and success from SMU.

The Pioneers are coming off their most successful season since the formation of the MEC 12 years ago, as GSU went (7-4) overall and (7-2) in league play, securing a second place finish in the league. Glenville State opens the season on August 30th against Emory & Henry at Herbert Hoover Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
