GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Volleyball team won in straight sets on Tuesday (Sept. 9) night in Beckley against WVU Tech. All three sets were closely contested and all decided by three points or less (25-23, 25-22, 26-24)
In the first set it was a comeback effort from the blue and white as they found themselves down 17-12 but would win the next six out of eight points, taking the lead and not giving it back winning set one, 25-23. In set two, the Pioneers found themselves up 20-11, but they could not find the winning points as the Golden Bears cut the lead to 24-22, however Deniz Selen Yazar had a kill to finish the set 25-22. The third set was back-and-forth the whole way as neither team could build a substantial lead, but in the late stages it was the Pioneers who made plays to finish the match off as a kill from Mikayla Curry and two Selen Yazar blocks brought home the victory, 26-24, and 3-0 in the match.
