Volleyball Falls to Walsh Inside the Waco Center

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Volleyball team played host to Walsh this evening in the Waco Center and the Cavaliers took the match, 3-0.

In the first set, both teams traded points back and forth early but Walsh built a 14-10 lead, forcing a GSU timeout. However, the Pioneers could not generate any momentum, falling in set one, 25-17. Set two started off in favor of the blue and white as they jumped out to a quick three-to nothing lead before the Cavaliers would answer back, tying the game up at seven all and continue their lead to 14-8. The Pioneers climbed back into the match at 22-18 but Walsh scored the final three points to take set two, 25-18. Set three saw the Pioneers trailing again, down 12-7, however Glenville State scored the next two, cutting the Walsh lead in half. The Cavaliers were able to regain control and win the final set, 25-12, and the match, 3-0.

Kameron Stover led the Cavaliers with 14 kills in the match while Grace Mazzocca and Sammie DiBease had eight kills each. Morgan Hornaday had 17 assists with AJ Burick pitching in 16 and Stover also led the team in digs with 11.

Glenville State
Kaiya Lian had seven kills to lead the Pioneer attack while Keleigh Chrisman had six and Cali Queen had four. Irmak Bezek led the team in assists with 12. Defensively, Mikayla Curry had two blocks, Queen had eight digs and Ava O'Hare had six digs.

Up Next For The Pioneers
The Pioneers head to Lock Haven for a weekend tournament starting on Friday (Sept. 19).
