ATHENS, W.Va. – The Glenville State Women's Soccer team dropped its second MEC contest of the season Wednesday (Sept. 17) afternoon, falling 4-0 on the road to Concord at Callaghan Stadium. With the result, the Pioneers move to (0-4, 0-2 MEC) while the Mountain Lions improve to (2-2, 2-0 MEC).
1st Half
Concord struck first in the 18th minute on a goal from Caitlin Webster before doubling its advantage in the 35th minute when Marika Svensson converted off a combination from Tiana Campbell and Alana Ferguson. The Pioneer defense absorbed pressure throughout the half and steady goalkeeping kept the margin at two heading into the break.
2nd Half
The Mountain Lions added to their lead in the 62nd minute as Caitlin Webster scored her second of the match and they closed the scoring in the 69th minute with a strike from Cecilie Skelde. Glenville State earned a pair of corner kicks in the second half and continued to battle but Concord's defense held strong, finishing out the 4-0 win for CU.
