GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State athletes
Valentina Quiroz and
Anthony Garrett have been selected GoMart Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced.
Quiroz, a junior out Lima, Peru, was instrumental in the Pioneers 3-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday (Sept. 24). The GSU Women's Soccer midfielder notched two goals in the win, including one just six minutes into the contest. Quiroz also started against Davis & Elkins on Sunday (Sept. 28) and got off two shots and played 72 minutes to help GSU secure a 1-1 tie against the Senators.
Garrett, a senior out of Detroit, Mich., completed 60% of his passes and threw for 257 yards and two scores in the Pioneers close 31-28 loss to Charleston on Saturday (Sept. 27). The 6-foot-2 quarterback also had a rushing touchdown in the closing minutes of the contest and had a passing long of 69 yards when he connected with
Arnav Thornhill in the Pioneers first offensive play of the game.
