GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State athletes
Savannah Duckworth and
Zailees Seda earned GoMart Female Pioneers of the Week while
Jalen Knott and
Gabe Onorato were Male Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced.
Duckworth, a senior out of Worthington, W.Va., started the 2026 campaign in a strong way for the Pioneer Acrobatics & Tumbling team. In the Pioneers clean sweep of Bluefield State and Wheeling, Duckworth produced a 9 or higher (out of a possible 10) six times, including 9.65 in the pyramid event and a 9.575 in the tumbling event.
Seda, a junior infielder on the Pioneers Softball team of Johnstown, Pa., went 5-for-8 in the Pioneers two wins on Monday (Feb. 9) against Lincoln Memorial (1-0) and Tusculum (15-1), as the junior produced two doubles and 3 RBIs against Tusculum with a 3-for-4 line. In the win against LMU, Seda went 2-for-4 with a stolen base.
Knott, who has been instrumental for GSU Men's Basketball all year, was phenomenal in the Pioneers 112-66 win at West Virginia Wesleyan, scoring 35 points with 11 made three pointers. The senior shot 12-for-17 from the field and 11-for-16 from behind the arc while also grabbing five rebounds and dishing out three assists. In the Pioneers win over D&E earlier in the week, Knott scored 14 points with six rebounds and five assists.
Onorato helped lead the Pioneers to a top 10 win over Ashland on Sunday (Feb. 15), as the graduate student out of Paulsboro, N.J. defeated the country's No. 3 wrestler at 149 pounds, Hayden Kuhn, by decision (4-2). Onorato then picked up a win by forfeit in the Thomas More dual.
