GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Softball will be at home for the first time in 2026 this weekend as the blue and white will be hosting the Sue Morris Sports Complex Classic today (Feb. 20) and Saturday (Feb. 21). The Pioneers will have West Virginia State, D'Youville, West Virginia Wesleyan, Gannon, Seton Hill and Bowie State in town.

THE OPPONENTS
BOWIE STATE
Bowie State enters the weekend (0-5) after dropping their first five contests of the new season at the HBCU Invitational in Georgia. The Bulldogs are coming off of a (27-20, 15-0 CIAA) finish in 2025, as BSU won the CIAA Championship and advanced into the NCAA DII Tournament.
Mikayla Amos is off to a strong start for the black and gold, hitting .462 with one home run, three RBIs and one double with just one strikeout in 13 plate appearances. Audrey Newell is the only other qualified batter hitting over .300, as she is hitting .333 with a home run and three RBIs as well. Soleil Bond-Johnson leads the pitching staff, posting a 3.00 ERA with nine strikeouts in seven innings on the young year.
SETON HILL
The Griffins were picked 4
th in the PSAC West Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing the 2025 season (29-17) overall and (18-10) in league player. SHU will square off with D'Youville before facing off with the Pioneers to open 2026.
Seton Hill is under new direction this season, as former IU Indy (D1) assistant Mandy Sansbury took over the reins in late July. The first-year leader had one of the Griffins top hitters return in Kassidy Wittig, as the redshirt junior hit .405 with a 1.024 OPS, 21 RBIs, 10 doubles and two triples in 2025. The team's number two pitcher from a year ago is also back in a Griffin uniform, with Briahana McCombs making a return after posting a 4.68 ERA, 6-1 record and one save in 52.1 innings pitched.
GANNON
The Golden Knights ended 2025 with a (29-19) overall record and (18-10) in PSAC play, making their 14
th-straight appearance in the conference tournament. The 2026 edition of Gannon softball is picked to finish third in the PSAC West Preseason Coaches Poll.
GU returns four All-PSAC performers from last season, including two-time D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Second Team selection Natalia Mallozi, who hit .399 with five home runs, 32 RBIs, nine doubles, two triples and 13 stolen bases. Gannon also returns two-time All-PSAC First Team selection and 2024 PSAC West Pitcher of the Year Maggie Lenda. The hard-throwing starting pitcher went (9-9) with a 3.16 ERA and 109 Ks in 2025.
D'YOUVILLE
The Saints are coming off of an historic 2025 campaign, where D'Youville went (23-20) overall and (9-11) in East Coast Conference (ECC) play. D'Youville captured their first ECC title in program history, knocking off the league's number one seed twice to take the throne.
ECC Preseason Player of the Year, Annie Jorgenson, and ECC Preseason Co-Pitcher of the Year, Summer Clark, headline the returners for the Saints. Jorgenson had a fantastic freshman season in 2025, hitting .344 with two home runs, 31 RBIs, 11 doubles and 45 hits. Clark, who is a former Florida Atlantic University transfer, led the Saints in average last season (.364) while notching 51 hits, two home runs, 18 RBIs and four doubles.
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
Glenville State opened the new season (3-1) with wins over Emory & Henry, Lincoln Memorial and Tusculum in the Big Region Preseason Invitational in Tennessee two weeks ago.
Following a transition from the outfield to shortstop, junior
Delaney Warnick was on a tear in the opening four games of the season. Warnick went 6-for-10 with a double, triple and four RBIs while also walking once and being HBP one time. Senior
Shelby McDaniels hit .583 with seven hits, two doubles and 6 RBIs with former Saint Peter's transfer
Zailees Seda also starting the new year hot with seven hits, two doubles and three RBIs.
Kylie Burdick pitched 12 innings, picked up two wins and didn't allow a run on just 10 hits as the 2025 NFCA All-Atlantic Region selection is poised to once again be the number one starter for head coach
Sara Scoone.
Meghan Stump (1.31 ERA in 5.1 IP) and
AndiJo Howard (1.50 ERA in 4.2 IP) were also impressive in the circle for the Pioneers.
