PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team brought the heat to CCAC Allegheny on Wednesday (Feb. 4) night, getting contributions across the lineup in a 93-73 win over Point Park. The Pioneers controlled the tempo from the opening minutes and pulled away with a strong second half to move to (13-8) overall and (8-6) in Mountain East Conference play.
1st Half
Point Park opened the scoring, but Glenville quickly settled in and began to dictate the flow. Elijah Redfern jump started the offense with an early jumper and a transition finish, while Prince Mosengo established a physical presence inside with dunks and tip ins around the rim.
The momentum shifted once the Glenville bench entered. Corey Boulden immediately stretched the floor with multiple threes, and Rye Gadd provided a burst of energy with strong finishes in the paint. The Pioneers turned defense into offense during a decisive stretch, stacking stops and converting in transition to create separation. Redfern capped the half with a transition three in the final seconds, sending the Pioneers into the locker room with a 42-29 lead after a sharp, balanced opening 20 minutes.
2nd Half
Glenville wasted no time expanding the margin. Don Colon Lewis opened the half with a three, Mosengo continued to clean up extra possessions on the offensive glass, and Ammar Maxwell pushed the pace with strong finishes in the paint as the lead quickly grew past 20.
Point Park attempted to respond with perimeter shooting, but Glenville consistently answered. Jalen Knott knocked down a pair of threes, Redfern added another from deep, and Corey Boulden delivered one of the highlights of the night with a powerful transition dunk that energized the Pioneers and extended the advantage. Glenville's ball movement and depth continued to wear Point Park down. Knott orchestrated the offense all night, finishing with a season high 11 assists as the Pioneers saw multiple players score in double figures and comfortably closed out the road win.
