THE OPPONENTS
EMORY & HENRY
The Wasps finished the 2025 season (31-21) overall and (12-12) in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) as E&H had their season ended at the SAC Tournament by Lenoir-Rhyne. The Wasps enjoyed a 14-game win streak earlier in the season before conference play began.

Emory & Henry enters the new season picked 7th in the SAC Preseason Coaches Poll, totaling 74 points in the 12-team conference. The Wasps didn't feature a player on the SAC Preseason All-Conference Team but Abigail Street (INF), Rachel Hill (INF), Malorie Reeves (Pitcher), Hannah Booth (C/INF) and Tristyn Tofano (INF) were named 'Players to Watch' by the league. Reeves and Booth were both an All-SAC Third Team selection in 2025 while Street and Hill combined for 13 home runs last season.

CARSON-NEWMAN
The Eagles went (28-20) overall and (13-11) in the SAC in 2025, having their season ended in the conference tournament. C-N notched a pair of nationally ranked wins over Lincoln Memorial and Tusculum and fell just short of the NCAA Tournament.

Carson-Newman was selected 4th in the SAC Preseason Coaches Poll, narrowly being picked behind Lincoln Memorial. Standout Macauley Bailey, the program's all-time leader in home runs (48) and RBI (190) is coming off another All-SAC First Team and All-Region campaign. She hit .447 with 18 home runs, 62 RBI and 13 doubles in 2025 to earn herself Preseason All-SAC. Additionally, four Eagles were put on the SAC 'Players to Watch' list.

LINCOLN MEMORIAL
The Railsplitters went (34-20, 15-9 SAC) in 2025, advancing to the SAC Tournament semifinals and making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, where their season came to an end against Tusculum in the Southeast Regional.

Lincoln Memorial logged a third-place selection in the SAC Preseason Coaches Poll as LMU returned Hanna Bogoski, who was named to the All-SAC Preseason Team. The senior catcher headlines the LMU returners, hitting .337 with 22 RBI, six doubles and four triples in 2025. Four other Railsplitters were named to the SAC 'Players to Watch' list as well.

TUSCULUM
The Pioneers went (38-19) overall and (13-11) in the SAC, earning a bid into the NCAA Tournament before falling to North Georgia in the second round of the Southeast Regional.

Tusculum was picked 5th in the SAC Preseason Coaches Poll with 95 points, being selected just behind Carson-Newman (99 points) and Lincoln Memorial (101 points). TU had three players land on the All-SAC Preseason Team, including 2025 NFCA Third Team All-American, Brooke Smith. The junior hit .455 with 85 hits and 28 RBI while stealing 30 bags. Ellie Alvarez and Abby Hunter were also preseason selections, as the duo combined for 125 hits and 65 RBI in 2025.

THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
Glenville State is coming off of their best season in program history, winning 36 games with a (22-8) MEC record, which earned the Pioneers the school's first-ever MEC regular season and South Division title. Seven Pioneers were all-conference selections while two earned All-Region.

The Pioneers were picked to finish second in the MEC South Division, behind defending tournament champion, Charleston. GSU logged the second-most points in the Preseason Coaches Poll as well. All-MEC First Team and All-Region Second Team selection Kylie Burdick headlines the returners for sixth-year head coach and reigning MEC Coach of the Year Sara Scoone, as the senior out of Cincinnati, Ohio set the program record in wins with 21 while being second in the league in ERA last season.

GSU returns six of their nine starters in the lineup while Burdick, Meghan Stump (All-MEC Second Team in 2025) and AndiJo Howard are back in the rotation. Offensively, three All-MEC First Team honorees are poised to once again make a big impact for the Pioneers. Delaney Warnick set the single-season doubles record at GSU in 2025 while hitting .344 with a team-leading 10 home runs, 44 RBI, 11 doubles and one triple. Senior Kylee Goodman protects the hot corner and hit .348 with four home runs, 30 RBI, 49 hits, six doubles and a team-leading five triples last year. Former Saint Peter's transfer Zailees Seda made an immediate surge at shortstop in '25, logging 60 hits, six doubles, two triples and two home runs with a .390 batting average.

Five transfers and seven freshman will dawn the Pioneer blue for the first this weekend, including Youngstown State transfer Maci Boggess, who is a former in-state star at Winfield High School. The junior was a 2023 Gatorade West Virginia Pitcher of the Year, All-State First Team selection and Captain, as well as Cardinal Conference Pitcher of the Year and state champion. Malone transfer Faith Yoho comes to Glenville with a successful past as well, as the junior started in 31 games last season for MU, hitting .309 with 29 hits and 10 RBI.

The Pioneers will be on the Conference Carolinas Network all weekend long. Catch the action starting at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Feb. 8) for the Big Region Preseason Invitational.
