SALEM, Va. – The Glenville State Softball team dropped three out of four games over the weekend in the West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament in Virginia. The Pioneers split the Saturday (Mar. 14) games with Bloomsburg (L, 7-6) and Shepherd (W, 5-1) before falling in both contests on Sunday (Mar. 15) to Shippensburg (6-2) and Seton Hill (15-0, 5 Inn.).
Saturday (Mar. 14)
GSU 6 | Bloomsburg 7
The Pioneers jumped out to a 4-0 advantage through the fourth inning before Bloomsburg got on the board. GSU extended the lead out to 6-1, but a fierce comeback by BU ensued. Bloomsburg plated two on a two-run home run and then tied it up at six with a three-run triple in the fifth. A sacrifice fly gave BU the 7-6 lead, which they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game.

Delaney Warnick and
Kylee Goodman both notched RBI singles in the opening inning to give Glenville State the early lead. Shepherd trimmed the deficit in half in the fifth with an RBI single but
Emma McLean and
Zailees Seda gave
Maci Boggess three insurance runs in the 7
th as the Pioneers pulled away, 5-1.
Sunday (Mar. 15)
GSU 2 | Shippensburg 6
For the third straight game, the Pioneers were on the board first, this time on a pair of RBI singles by
Alli Hypes and
Emma McLean in the fourth inning. The Raiders exploded for six runs in the 6
th inning, all via the RBI single. The Pioneers were unable to mount a late-inning comeback, falling 6-2 in the Sunday opener.
GSU 0 | Seton Hill 15 (5 Inn.)
SHU scored first in the Pioneers final game of the weekend, plating two in the first inning before adding one in the 2
nd and one in the 3
rd on a pair of home runs. GSU trailed 4-0 heading into the fifth inning, but Seton Hill would catch fire for 11 runs in the inning, ending the game short by a score of 15-0.
