Preview: Softball Looks to Continue Hot MEC Start with Six-Game Week

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Softball will look to continue their hot start to Mountain East Conference play this week with their six-game slate starting with Concord on Wednesday (Mar. 25) and finishing out with West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday (Mar. 28) and Davis & Elkins on Sunday (Mar. 29).

THE OPPONENTS
CONCORD
2026 Season
The Mountain Lions enter the week (12-10, 2-2 MEC) after dropping both matchups to Charleston but sweeping West Virginia State over the weekend. CU has lost four out of the last five matchups to the Pioneers, including a (1-3) mark against GSU in 2025.
 
Quick Look at The Mountain Lions
Kendall Morgan is tied for the team in batting average at .358 while showcasing an impressive 1.011 OPS and one home run, 17 RBIs, five triples, two doubles and 12 stolen bases. Lacie Lewis has sported consistent power with three bombs and 15 RBIs, adding eight doubles, a .358 AVG and a 1.063 OPS. Alina Giles is batting just .266, but the power hitter is leading the team with four home runs while notching 15 RBIs, five doubles and two triples.
 
The Pioneers will see Reghan Mintz, who leads the team in ERA (2.97) and strikeouts (71) with a (4-6) record, five complete games and one shutout in 66.0 IP. Madison Hollis has started 10 games and put together a (7-4) record with 33 strikeouts, six complete games and two shutouts in a team-high 70.2 IP.
 
WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN
2026 Season
The Bobcats come into the new week (7-15) overall and (0-4) in MEC play following doubleheader sweeps at Fairmont State and Frostburg State. GSU has beaten West Virginia Wesleyan six straight times with WVWC's last win against the Pioneers coming in 2024.
 
Quick Look at The Bobcats
Reagan Winn has been the top hitter for the Bobcats all season long, producing a .452 AVG, 1.201 OPS, 28 hits, three home runs, 19 RBIs and six doubles thus far. Josi Fix and Madison Austra have both knocked two homers out of the park with Fix being second on the team in RBIs with 15. Gracey Arnold has used extra base hits to spearhead her production, as the junior leads the squad in doubles with seven while adding 14 RBIs and a .258 AVG.
 
The Bobcats have a 4.83 ERA as a team, with Morgan Greene being the team's top pitcher in 2026. She's posted a (4-7) record, 3.39 ERA, 39 strikeouts, seven complete games and 76.1 IP in 13 games started. Fix has done work in the circle as well, making nine appearances with 24.1 IP and a 5.47 ERA.
 
DAVIS & ELKINS
2026 Season
The Senators in 2026 is not what the league has seen of D&E the past four seasons, as Davis & Elkins currently sits (4-22) overall and (0-4) in the MEC.
 
Quick Look at The Senators
Ashlyn Zapach has been the most impactful hitter for the Senators in 2026, hitting .314 with three home runs, 16 RBIs and seven doubles. Audrey Higgins leads the team in average at .333, adding two home runs and 19 RBIs to her totals as well. Davis & Elkins has used the longball this year, blasting 12 home runs.
 
As a team, the Senators have a 7.59 ERA, with the lowest coming from Sammie Jarvis, who has a 5.57 ERA and (2-9) record in 13 appearances. Saylor Kneeland has been D&E's number two starter, as she is (0-5) with a 9.59 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 38.2 innings pitched over 15 appearances (10 starts).
 
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2026 Season
The Pioneers started Mountain East Conference play in the best way possible, sweeping both West Virginia State and Charleston in Glenville over the weekend. Glenville State is (17-7, 4-0 MEC) entering the new week.
 
Quick Look at The Pioneers
The home runs poured in for the Pioneers in their wins against UC and WVSU, as Delaney Warnick, Emily Nolan and Hannah Howe all have two home runs on the season after their impressive weekends. Warnick is hitting .370 with 19 RBIs, three doubles and one triple while Nolan is batting .350 with 15 RBIs and three doubles. Howe has added 16 RBIs and two doubles to her season totals with a .258 AVG as well. Zailees Seda has started all 24 games for GSU, and is playing a great second base with a career year at the dish transpiring. Seda is hitting .467 with a team-high 35 hits and one home run, 13 RBIs, six doubles, one triple and an impressive 1.119 OPS.
 
Kylie Burdick is coming off of a big weekend individually, as the senior was named Mountain East Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week after giving up just one run over 14 innings pitched. The Cincinnati, Ohio native lowered her ERA down to 2.04 and improved her record to (8-2) with seven complete games and five shutouts. Youngstown State transfer Maci Boggess has been phenomenal also, posting a 2.08 ERA, (6-3) record and six complete games over 57.1 IP.
