GLENVILLE, W.Va. – In collaboration with the Mountain East Conference, Glenville State has released the 2026 football schedule under new head coach
Jake Casteel.
The Pioneers, who completed their home-and-home series' with Emory & Henry and Lock Haven last season, added two new opponents for 2026. Glenville State will finish their two-year deal with Millersville at home and play an eight-game conference schedule, which includs four home contests and four road games.
Coach Casteel's first game as head coach will come on Thursday, August 27
th when the Pioneers travel to North Carolina to take on Division I Elon out of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) for a 7 p.m. kickoff inside Rhodes Stadium. The first-ever game at the brand-new Morris Family Health & Family Fitness Complex will take place the following week, with the Pioneers hosting Millersville for a Thursday night game at 6 p.m. on September 3
rd. GSU closes their non-conference slate after a bye week with Division I Mercyhurst of the Northeast Conference (NEC) on Saturday, September 19
th at 1 p.m.
Glenville State will begin conference play with MEC Co-Champion, the University of Charleston, on the road at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 26
th. The following Saturday, GSU travels north to take on rival Fairmont State in the Battle For The Bit at 2 p.m. on October 3
rd for the Falcons homecoming. Casteel and the Pioneers return to the Morris Family Health Complex for the first Saturday contest in the newly-constructed spectacle the following week, welcoming MEC-Co Champion, Frostburg State, to Glenville for a 1 p.m. kickoff. The blue and white will then walk into their second homecoming game at Concord on Saturday, October 17
th, playing the Mountain Lions at Callaghan Stadium.
The second portion of the conference slate is the Pioneers homecoming matchup as West Liberty makes the trek to central West Virginia for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, October 24
th. The Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State comes back to Glenville for a Halloween showdown with the Pioneers at 1 p.m. to close out October. GSU ends the regular season with a road contest and a final home game, traveling to Wheeling (Sat, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m.) before hosting West Virginia Wesleyan (Sat, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m.) for senior day.
