GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Softball has a pair of big doubleheaders on deck this weekend, as the Pioneers will travel south to Charleston on Friday (Apr. 3) and West Virginia State on Saturday (Apr. 4).

CHARLESTON
2026 Season
The Golden Eagles come into the weekend (24-10) overall and (8-2) in league play, currently tied with the Pioneers for first place in the MEC South. UC is on a six-game winning stream since dropping both games of a doubleheader in Glenville two weeks ago.
Quick Look at The Golden Eagles
Kayla Moran is leading the team with 28 RBIs while batting .337 with three home runs, six doubles, two triples and nine stolen bases. Taylor Hodson is first on the squad in average at .363 while also showcasing power with three home runs, 22 RBIs and seven doubles. Ella Zucchero has also been impressive inside the box, swinging it at a .321 clip with a team-leading eight doubles, three triples and 17 RBIs in 2026.
Inside the circle, Charleston has went to the reliable Addison Mass 18 times (17 starts) as the MEC Pitcher of the Year candidate posts a 1.72 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, (14-3) record, 16 complete games, four shutouts and 155 strikeouts in 113.2 IP. Cali Masters has been strong as the number two pitcher for the Golden Eagles, going (9-4) with a 2.34 ERA, six complete games, three shutouts and 108 strikeouts in 74.2 IP.
WEST VIRGINIA STATE
2026 Season
The Yellow Jackets are (11-15) overall and (3-7) in the Mountain East Conference, most recently splitting with Wheeling and sweeping West Liberty last weekend. WVSU fell to GSU in Glenville two weeks ago, 2-1, in both contests.
Quick Look at The Yellow Jackets
Kylie Price (1.047 OPS, 3 HR, 13 RBI, 7 2B), Sydney Shamblin (2 HR, 13 RBI, 4 2B) and Cassidy Cummings (1 HR, 9 RBI, 5 2B) are all hitting .333 as Price leads the team in doubles and is tied for the team lead with Shamblin in RBIs. Olivia Bell, who has a .303 AVG, leads the Yellow Jackets in home runs with four while adding 11 RBIs and four doubles.
Kaleigh Murphy has solidified herself has one of the more efficient pitchers in the conference, logging a 1.58 ERA, (3-3) record, five complete games, one shutout and six starts in 11 appearances. West Virginia State's second hurler, Hope Sizemore, has also been effective in the circle, posting a 2.56 ERA and (4-2) record in nine appearances (eight starts).
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2026 Season
The Pioneers are (21-9) overall and (8-2) in league play after four wins this past weekend at home against West Virginia Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins. Glenville State is (4-0) against Charleston and West Virginia State in 2026.

Zailees Seda, who is on the NFCA National Player of the Year watchlist, leads the Pioneer sticks with a .393 AVG, 35 hits, one home run, 16 RBIs, six doubles and one triple.
Emily Nolan has been on a tear as of late, boosting her stats on the year up to .356 AVG, two home runs, 18 RBIs and seven doubles.
Delaney Warnick has displayed the power in the past two weeks, now showcasing a .348 AVG with two home runs, 21 RBIs, five doubles and one triple.
Shelby McDaniels (.322 AVG, 16 RBIs, 13 2B),
Lillian Burns (.314 AVG),
Emma McLean (.286 AVG, 1 HR, 9 RBIs, 3 2B) and
Hannah Howe (.278 AVG, 2 HR, 22 RBIs, 4 2B, 1 3B) have added a healthy mix of power and production in
Sara Scoone's lineup.
The Pioneer pitching staff is very top heavy, with
Kylie Burdick leading the staff with a 2.20 ERA, (10-3) record, eight complete games, five shutouts and 70 strikeouts in 82.2 IP.
Maci Boggess, who landed on the NFCA National Pitcher of the Year watchlist, is (7-4) with a 2.34 ERA, seven complete games, one shutout and 34 Ks in 71.2 IP.
Meghan Stump has pitched 26.2 innings and made 11 appearances with five starts, adding a 2.62 ERA and (4-1) record to the staff.
