Preview: Pioneers to Host Concord, Salem & Point Park for Six Home Games

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Softball has won nine of their last 10 games and are (15-1) at home this season as the Pioneers are looking to continue that hot streak with six more home games this week against Concord (Wed, Apr. 22), Salem (Sat, Apr. 25) and Point Park (Sun, Apr. 26).

THE OPPONENTS
CONCORD
2026 Season
The Mountain Lions enter the new week (19-21) overall and (9-13) in league play following an (0-4) weekend against Frostburg State and Fairmont State. Concord swept Glenville State in a midweek doubleheader earlier in the season in Athens.
 
Quick Look at The Mountain Lions
Kendall Morgan is one of two Mountain Lions hitting over .300 as she leads the team in average with a .365 clip and one home run, 24 RBIs, five doubles and seven triples. Lacie Lewis is batting .341 with a team-leading 12 doubles as well as four home runs, 22 RBIs and a triple. Madison Hollis has brought the power to the CU lineup, powering six home runs over the fence with a team-leading 27 RBIs. Two other Mountain Lions have notched four home runs each to add more strength to the lineup.
 
When looking at pitching, the Mountain Lions showcase a 3.49 team ERA with Reghan Hintz leading the charge at 3.08 ERA, (6-13) record, 14 complete games, two shutouts and 118 strikeouts in 125 innings pitched. Madison Hollis has pitched more innings (128.2) and captured more victories (12), but the P/INF has a 3.81 ERA and just 55 strikeouts.
 
SALEM
2026 Season
The Tigers come in (14-27) overall after splitting with West Virginia State on Saturday and dropping both games to Charleston on Friday. Glenville State has won the last nine meetings between the Pioneers and Tigers, with Salem's last win against GSU coming at Glenville in 2019.
 
Quick Look at The Tigers
Ali Shrieve has been impressive for Salem in 2026, as the freshman is hitting .325 with 37 hits, one home run, 26 RBIs, 12 doubles and a triple. Ali Jacobs leads the team in AVG at .330, but has not shown a plethora of power with no home runs and 11 RBIs to her totals. As a team, the Tigers have hit just nine home runs, with the leader, Kylie Zinn, having two on the year.
 
In the circle, Salem is led by Kendall Lemley, who posts a 3.45 ERA, (10-9) record, 17 complete games (in 20 starts), one shutout and 73 strikeouts in 128 innings pitched. Franchesca Alvaro (5.72 ERA) and Brooke Wise (5.81 ERA) have made a combined 18 starts for the Tigers and ate up over 110 innings in 2026.
 
POINT PARK
2026 Season
The Point Park Pioneers are (9-29) overall and (3-17) in conference play, as PPU has lost 17 out of their last 19 games. The Pioneers were able to capture a win last weekend, defeating West Virginia State, 5-4, in Pittsburgh.
 
Quick Look at The Pioneers
Mia Arndt has been the leader for this Point Park offense all season long, hitting .315 with 39 knocks, five home runs, 12 RBIs, five doubles and one triple. She's also stole 27 bases and has only been caught once swiping a bag. Cam Mann leads the Pioneers in RBIs with 21 while hitting .310 with two longballs, seven doubles and one triple.
 
In the circle, PPU has a team ERA of 7.23, with Julia Johnson having the lowest at 5.46 with a (6-13) record, 17 complete games, two shutouts and 58 strikeouts in 132 innings. Emma Henry has made 14 starts and pitched 75.2 innings with a 9.16 ERA and four complete games.
 
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE

2026 Season
Glenville State is (30-12, 17-5 MEC) entering the busy week and are currently one game behind Charleston in the MEC South Division standings. The Pioneers are (15-1) at home this season, with their lone loss coming at the hands of Frostburg State over the weekend.
 
Quick Look at The Pioneers
Shelby McDaniels and Delaney Warnick are tied for the team lead in average at .339, with Warnick leading the squad in home runs (5) while McDaniels leads GSU in doubles (16) and runs scored (33). Hannah Howe was on a tear in the Pioneers (3-1) weekend against Fairmont State and Frostburg State, boosting her stat line to .276 AVG, three home runs, 30 RBIs and nine doubles. Emily Nolan and Zailees Seda are both at two home runs and have drove in 20 or runs apiece.
 
After another stellar weekend, Maci Boggess has dropped her ERA to 1.88 with a (11-4) record, 11 complete games in 15 starts, one shutout and 52 strikeouts in 100.2 innings pitched. Kylie Burdick is coming off of a no-hitter on Saturday against Fairmont State and enters the new week with a 2.15 ERA, (14-4 record), 11 complete games, seven shutouts and 97 strikeouts in 114 innings pitched. Meghan Stump (2.35 ERA, 41.2 IP) and AndiJo Howard (3.91 ERA, 14.1 IP) have continued to add flexibility in the Pioneers pitching rotation.
