Dellerman and Landis Shove, Pioneer Bats Come Alive as GSU Takes First Two Games Versus WVWC

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Baseball team used a pair of strong pitching performances from Zach Dellerman and Grant Landis as well as an offensive explosion in game two to secure a Friday doubleheader sweep of West Virginia Wesleyan, 3-0, and 13-0. The Pioneers have now won seven in a row and are (24-18, 13-11 MEC) on the year.

Game One – GSU 3 | WVWC 0
Following two walks, Colby Guy smoked a liner off the centerfield wall in the bottom of the 1st to give the Pioneers a 2-0 lead early in the ballgame. Zach Dellerman and West Virginia Wesleyan's Lucas Mann went toe-to-toe for the next four innings until the Pioneers once again cracked the armor of Mann with an RBI single from Zach Laurie in the bottom of the 5th. Dellerman's no-hit bid would also be ended in the fifth inning, but the Pioneers ace produced eight strikeouts and allowed just two hits to shutout the Bobcats in the weekend opening win, 3-0.

Game Two – GSU 13 | WVWC 0
Adam Bright had an electric game two for the Pioneers, starting it off with a two-run home run in the first inning. Grant Landis mowed through the Bobcat lineup, going a full six innings with four strikeouts and four hits allowed. Landis gained plenty of insurance in the fifth and sixth innings, as the Pioneer bats put together five in the 5th and six in the 6th.

Ashton Crace logged an RBI while Zach Laurie and Greyson McNeill notched two-RBI doubles in the 5th to make it 7-0 before Adam Bright cleared the bases on a double, Crace singled in Bright and Austin Carter had a pinch hit RBI single in the 6th inning. Adrian Orozco made quick work of WVWC in the final inning to complete the 13-0 win.
