GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Baseball team used a pair of strong pitching performances from
Zach Dellerman and
Grant Landis as well as an offensive explosion in game two to secure a Friday doubleheader sweep of West Virginia Wesleyan, 3-0, and 13-0. The Pioneers have now won seven in a row and are (24-18, 13-11 MEC) on the year.
Game One – GSU 3 | WVWC 0
Following two walks,
Colby Guy smoked a liner off the centerfield wall in the bottom of the 1
st to give the Pioneers a 2-0 lead early in the ballgame.
Zach Dellerman and West Virginia Wesleyan's Lucas Mann went toe-to-toe for the next four innings until the Pioneers once again cracked the armor of Mann with an RBI single from
Zach Laurie in the bottom of the 5
th. Dellerman's no-hit bid would also be ended in the fifth inning, but the Pioneers ace produced eight strikeouts and allowed just two hits to shutout the Bobcats in the weekend opening win, 3-0.
Game Two – GSU 13 | WVWC 0
Adam Bright had an electric game two for the Pioneers, starting it off with a two-run home run in the first inning.
Grant Landis mowed through the Bobcat lineup, going a full six innings with four strikeouts and four hits allowed. Landis gained plenty of insurance in the fifth and sixth innings, as the Pioneer bats put together five in the 5
th and six in the 6
th.
Ashton Crace logged an RBI while
Zach Laurie and
Greyson McNeill notched two-RBI doubles in the 5
th to make it 7-0 before
Adam Bright cleared the bases on a double, Crace singled in Bright and
Austin Carter had a pinch hit RBI single in the 6
th inning.
Adrian Orozco made quick work of WVWC in the final inning to complete the 13-0 win.
