Preview: Pioneers Set to Open NCAA Tournament with Rematch Versus Charleston

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Fourth-seeded Glenville State will open the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament with a rematch of last week's MEC Tournament Championship, squaring off against fifth-seeded Charleston on Thursday (May 14) at 2:30 p.m. The Pioneers and Golden Eagles will play at Robb Field, the home site of the host, top-seeded Shippensburg.

2026 Season
The Golden Eagles are (45-16) overall after winning three games at the Mountain East Conference Tournament. UC then fell twice to the Pioneers, trading places with Glenville State in the regional rankings as the No. 5 seed.
 
Quick Look at The Golden Eagles
Ella Zucchero and Kayla Moran lead the team in AVG (.353) while Moran has displayed the most power in the Golden Eagles lineup, showcasing 15 doubles, three triples, nine home runs and 55 RBIs to her already impressive average. Zucchero adds speed on the bases, adding 14 doubles, four triples and 15 stolen bases on the year. Taylor Hodson is prone to hit the long ball as well, being second on the team in home runs with six while driving in 43 and hitting .339.
 
The Pioneers were able to force the MEC Pitcher of the Year, Addison Mass, out of both championship games, but the senior pitcher has been one of the best in the country. Mass is (28-4) with a 1.56 ERA, 30 complete games, 10 shutouts and 267 strikeouts in 219.1 innings. She has a tremendous backup in MEC Freshman of the Year Cali Masters, who also pitched against GSU on Saturday (May 9). Masters has posted a 2.47 ERA, (14-7) record, 11 complete games and 162 strikeouts in 133 innings of work.

2026 Season
The Pioneers are in the midst of their best season in program history, coming off of an MEC Tournament Championship and a second consecutive MEC South Division title. Glenville State comes into Thursday as the region's No. 4 seed and a (45-14) record.
 
Quick Look at The Pioneers
Delaney Warnick is had one of the best individual performances in MEC Tournament history, where she hit .545 with six home runs and 18 RBIs in seven games. On the year, Warnick is hitting .376 with a 1.113 OPS, 15 HR, 57 RBIs, eight doubles and one triple. Zailees Seda has the most hits (68) and highest AVG (.378) on the team while adding eight doubles, one triple, four homers and 38 RBIs. Emily Nolan (.362 AVG, 4 HR, 33 RBIs) and Lillian Burns (.344 AVG, 1 HR, 22 RBIs) are hot right now, with both nearly hitting .500 at the MEC Tournament.
 
The Pioneers feature one of the top pitching staffs in the region, and the top three have a 2.30 ERA or lower. Kylie Burdick is (18-6) with a 2.29 ERA, 13 complete games and eight shutouts while striking out 125 in 147 innings. Youngstown State transfer Maci Boggess was an All-MEC First Team and MEC All-Tournament team selection during her first year as a Pioneer, holding a 2.06 ERA with a (17-4) record, 14 complete games and four shutouts in 139 IP. Meghan Stump, who was also an MEC All-Tournament Team honoree, has a 1.59 ERA and (10-3) mark in 2026.
