BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Glenville State University Athletics has finished second in the Mountain East Conference Commissioner's Cup, the league announced today. This marks the Pioneers highest finish in school history.
The Commissioner's Cup standings are compiled using an "all-sports rating." This rating is determined by a formula that awards points to a school for its regular season finish equal to the number of teams per sport sponsored by the MEC, and then divided by the number of sports offered by the institution. The final rating is a percentage of points acquired against the number of points available
(average percentile finish in the standings of each sport sponsored by an institution). A bonus point is given for winning the conference tournament (in applicable sports).
The Pioneers won the women's basketball regular season title and were co-champions in the South Division in softball while also claiming the tournament championship. Football finished tied for third with baseball, volleyball, men's basketball and acrobatics & tumbling all advancing into their respective MEC Tournaments. Additionally, men's golf, women's golf and wrestling finished second at the MEC Championships while men's & women's track & field had fourth place finishes during the outdoor season.
Charleston's all-sports rating of 0.9784946237 topped runner-up Glenville State and third-place Frostburg State. The Golden Eagles won conference championships in football as co-champs, men's cross country, men's soccer, men's golf, women's golf, men's indoor track & field, women's indoor track & field, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's outdoor track & field, women's outdoor track & field. They also won tournament championships in women's basketball and baseball.
Frostburg State was co-champions in football, had the highest-scoring MEC women's team at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference/Mountain East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, won both the women's lacrosse regular and tournament titles, and was co-champions of the North Division in baseball.

• The MEC conducted 23 championships during the 2024-25 athletics season.
• Points are awarded based on the number of institutions that sponsor a sport. First place receives the number of points equal to the number of teams, last place receives one point.
• Ties are not broken in and points are equally shared among teams that tie in the standings EXCEPT in sports with divisional play and conference championship situations.
